Desert Island Discs CJ That Day

This is a bit belated as I sent the CJ away at the beginning of the month but I'm slowly getting out the bit again and normal service is resuming hopefully.

This entry for the Desert Island Discs over on Collabor-Art is based on the song "That Day" by Natalie Imbruglia and was one I hadn't really heard before. It is important to Sian however and I wanted to do an uplifting entry for her plus I'm really liking yellow at the moment.

This is the title page with the song lyrics and I used some Maya Mist and Dylusions sprays with a vintage doily I have. The stamp is a Unity Brave Girl one.

This page I layered down book pages and texture paste using a Studio Calico mask. I then sprayed the same colour combination through the doily again. The line that inspired me was about sitting in the sun and I imagined getting strength and warmth from it. I'm still drawing heads as well so I thought it was fitting to have her facing my sun. The hair is a combination of Neocolors and Sharpie poster paint pens. The alpha stamps are Studio Calico while the rest are VivaLasVegas and more Unity Brave Girls.

I hope Sian likes it and it satisfies her brief. TFL.x

Scavenger Hunt 2013 Get Started

It's time for the photo scavenger hunt organised by Rinda over on Gallo Organico. Please visit her here to see the details and everyone who is involved. I had a lot of fun last year doing this challenge and I only joined in halfway through. I'm hoping that an earlier start will help me complete it this time. My first photo  is the one I thought I would struggle with and then I realised I had the perfect opportunity staring at my all last week.

Number 9. A photo with someone or something that is clearly out of place or doesn't belong

This little chap appeared last week at work perched on top of a PC in the lab. He is a wind-up toy caterpillar and is not a normal feature of the laboratory. He is a bit of light relief in a strict robotic background especially as the robots are having a few glitches just now and we're all emitting bad words at the systems. He makes me smile when I'm sitting at the terminal working.

Happy Hunting!

Mojoless May

It has been a dry crafty season this month and I've struggled to be very productive but I did finish a CJ entry right at the beginning of the month and these two LOs which have been hanging around since National Scrapbook day. I think I burnt out my crafty mojo then lol.

The first one I actually did this week after my new Quirky kit arrived. I loved this background paper ( I'm so lucky I have another one coming in a Cocoa Daisy kit) and I decided to use it as the base for this photo. The LO is based on the May sketch challenge over on SJ Crafts blog here  although I missed the deadline to enter due to my faffing with it.

This LO has been a total epic and has lurked on my desk for two weeks but I finally buckled down and finished it. The papers are Echo park and Studio Calico as well as embellishments from Basic Gray and Freckled Fawn.

Cherish Forever

I never started scrapping till after my second son was born so I have been trying to go back and scrap my older son when he was little for his album. I'm also trying to keep a balance between the boys as his brother has more photos taken but that's because he is still willing to pose.

The first LO uses a photo that has been lurking in a drawer for years so I scanned it then used the original as I figured that an album was better than a drawer to be stored in.
It was for a challenge over on Studio Calico to use something new on a LO. In this case it was some Studio Calico Atlantic sequins and cork chevrons that I was able to snag from Sarah's Cards. They arrived super quick,  in fact if I had been lucky enough to get them from Studio Calico they wouldn't have been here yet as my May kit is still on it's way over. I also used papers and a Project Life card from last months Spencer's kits as well as an old title from Pink Paislee.

LO two is one I did to record DS1 first computer game love which was World of Warcraft. He never plays it now but I wanted to record it as he loved it and really got to grips with gaming by playing it. He was able to play it with my brother so he really enjoyed that aspect of having someone to discuss it with. Interests change and he would never play it now but it is good to capture these things. DS2 told me yesterday that he will always love Moshi Monsters even when he is big. I just smiled.
I used a Project Life card from Jennifer Johner and the papers are from various Quirky and Studio Calico kits that I mixed together.

NSD Challenges

I was inspired by the National Scrapbook challenges on the web this weekend and produced these three projects.

Firstly was a challenge from SJ Crafts to use one manufacturer only.  I chose Studio Calico as I have plenty of their products and I wanted to use some stash up as well. The papers are the Snippets collection with some exclusive vellum from the April kit. The stamps, die cuts and even the alpha are their products. The photo has been lying around waiting to be scrapped so I'm pleased it's in an album now.

Challenge two from Studio Calico was to incorporate a digital element. I used a digital stamp and coloured him with my one Copic and some Distress markers. I have to admit to having no idea where I got him from as I don't seem to have kept his location as usual. If you know can you give me the link please? He's a cute stamp for boy cards and I did a birthday card with more Studio Calico Here and There collection. The pads were on the table so they were being used the most this weekend.

Challenge three also Studio Calico was to use five different patterned papers. The LO was inspired by the Always Be You card from my Project Life kit this month and I then used MME and Studio Calico papers for the LO.

I hope you had a creative NSD and enjoyed yourself. TFL.x

Someone Like You DID CJ.

Happy Belated National Scrapbook Day. I was scrapping yesterday after being inspired by various challenges on the web for NSD. I have done two LOs and a card so far and some more ideas are still bubbling away.

In the meantime here is my entry for Pat's DID CJ this month. I chose the song Someone Like You  by Adele which I loved.

I sprayed the background with Dylusions sprays first and then did some of the ghosting technique with a letter stencil. I stamped some background stamps with black Stazon and a Navy SU ink. The stamps were a Chinese character one, a Kaisercraft butterfly one, a VivaLasVegas one and the Unity Brave Girl set I thought fitted the theme of the song.

I have been inspired by some of the previous entries to do some freehand drawing and have been doing heads and shoulders mostly. No faces yet as I'm not happy with them but it's coming. I used some Sharpie poster paint pens and Neocolor crayons to do the head. I actually think the lack of a face fits the theme of the song. The couple on the other side are a Silhouette cut on the Coredinations cardstock which I distressed around the edges and then put some of the song lines on with my trusty Dymo.

I have to admit to making no additions to the other entries this time as I couldn't see how I could add anything else to complement what was there. I wondered if it's because we are in the final stretches of the CJ. Pop over to Collabor-art and see the other entries so far.TFL.x

Hello Darling

This LO uses the April sketch challenge from Sarah's Cards blog as its base. I use sketches when my mojo has escaped and after my holiday frenzy last week it's gone to ground. I have to find the sketch inspiring in the first place so I keep a board on Pinterest just for that. It's here if you want a look.

The LO is mostly Darling Dear from Studio Calico which is one of my favourite collections from them. It's very male/boy friendly and I keeping going back to use it. I luckily got a grab bag of the collection from Studio Calico after I had used up most of my original supply. I also added some of this months Project Life kit from them with Basic Gray tags I got from the shop.
I scrapped this photo as I'm trying to scrap older photos and non boy photos for the albums as well so there are records of us in the albums. TFL.x
